In everyone's life there are times when we need a little help along the way. If we are struggling with our emotions we sometimes believe we have to suffer alone and feel there is no one who can help. We may hesitate when we consider seeking some counselling help.

And there is the old stigma that needing help is synonymous with being a weak person. Some people feel embarrassed about telling family or friends they are seeing a counsellor. Thankfully, these attitudes are changing. Counselling therapy is now looked upon as a positive and accepted avenue for emotional healing.

An Integrative Approach...

I passionately believe in an integrative perspective. This means I view each individual wholistically with a physical life, an emotional and intellectual life, and a spiritual life. This approach to therapy supports our whole being because all parts of ourselves become active in the healing process. Integrative Therapy recognizes that we are biopsychospiritual beings and in order to truly heal, we need to recognize the reality of the spirit.

Integrating Counselling and Psychotherapy...

If a client wishes to work on deeper issues, an integrative therapist will combine counselling skills with psychotherapeutic skills. The healing process is usually a longer one as both conscious and subconscious emotional blocks, negative patterns, and deepest fears are explored. Usually, the individual's deepest insights arise out of this form of therapy.

Time to Integrate...

Integration also means that throughout the healing process a client will need time to "digest" or integrate their new perceptions and attitudes into their daily life. Change is a process and like all processes, integration requires time. When change becomes a living process we look at ourselves, others, and the world in a whole new way. This newness of being means a lot less pain in our lives and a greater sense of peace and wellbeing.

Integrative Therapy enhances our sense of self. Our outlook is positive and loving. We feel good about who we are and what we have to share in the world. We develop a calmness of inner being, sense a renewed energy inside, and gain an expanded view of life and love. This is where true happiness lies.

There can be no greater joy in life than this!
